22 steps across 6 sections

1. Create a Trusted Traveler Program (TTP) Account

  • Go to ttp.cbp.dhs.gov
  • Create an account and complete the online application
  • Pay the $120 non-refundable fee

2. Wait for Conditional Approval

  • CBP reviews your application and runs a background check
  • 80% of applicants receive conditional approval within 2 weeks
  • Typical timeline: 2-4 weeks
  • Complex cases may take 2-3 months; some up to 12 months

3. Complete In-Person Interview

  • After conditional approval, schedule an interview at a Global Entry Enrollment Center
  • You have 730 days (2 years) from conditional approval to complete your interview
  • Bring: valid passport(s), proof of residency (driver's license, utility bill, etc.)
  • Interview takes approximately 15 minutes
  • CBP officer verifies identity, reviews documents, takes fingerprints

4. Standard Enrollment Center

  • Schedule at one of 60+ enrollment centers nationwide
  • Available at major international airports and some land border crossings
  • Wait times for appointments vary by location (some have months-long waits)

5. Enrollment on Arrival (EoA)

  • Complete your interview when you arrive from an international trip
  • Available at 60+ airports and preclearance locations
  • No appointment needed — just present yourself to the Global Entry office after clearing customs
  • Best option if enrollment center appointments are booked far out
  • You must be conditionally approved before using EoA

6. Enrollment on Departure

  • Available at some airports before departing the US
  • Check CBP website for participating locations
